Spraying Paint or Rolling Paint

I’ve worked in a couple different provinces doing painting and the range of painting styles is vast. Painting in Ontario provides its own unique problems due to the vast array of painting techniques and the quantity of different small businesses. We believe there are practices that make some expert painters regardless of the style they choose. I’m going to discuss the difference in techniques and the benefits of the styles of painting.

Which should I choose?

Most home owners are used to the older methods of painting but have heard the news of spraying. Does it really make the job faster? Is the finish superior? Are their things to watch out for? Companies are shifting their focus onto spraying opposed to rolling because of the speed not the finish. You are able to get a high quality finish regardless of the application style. We don’t believe speed is the greatest value when it comes to improving your investment. The Experts at CW Paint and tape choose to roll because our biggest concern is the cleanliness, quality, and peace of mind for our clients. We guarantee the same or better quality finish with no headaches worrying about overspray and touchups.

Spraying paint can provide a great value for the service but requires a lot of plastic waste and preparation. When spraying the baseboards, floors, windows and ceiling will need to be taped of and covered to prevent the overspray from resting on a surface that you don’t want paint. When you spray you also release more VOCs into the air which can cause a distinct odour. With rolling you won’t need all the extra headache of covering ceilings and windows because the paint is controlled and the paint experts can move around fixtures and furniture with ease.

The Job Needs a Touchup!

When rolling and spraying there are techniques used to touchup without causing flashing one method being feathering. Feathering is where you put a thicker coat where the touchup is needed and then slowly fan out the amount of paint used to blend it in to the existing coat. This can be done with a roller or a sprayer but if the wall was sprayed it needs to be touched up with a sprayer and visa versa. The same issues from before apply; this is why CW paint and tape is able to offer Orillia the best guarantee. Anything can happen after your interior painting is done, a Child’s fingerprints, a chip on the corner, an unfortunate mistake, you get the picture life can be rough on your walls. Since the setup and cleanup process is easier with rolling we are able to quickly get in and out of your house leaving you undisturbed and even your smallest concerns addressed.
